FAQs
How long after the session will the video be available?
Your first draft of the video will be ready for viewing within 45 days of the interview. Then we confirm that the edit is approved, before starting to add still photos and / or video clips to the finished product.
How long does the actual filming last?
Our team is usually on-site for between 4 and 5 hours per day, depending on interview length. Plan on one hour of set-up, for us to get lights, cameras and microphones ready and tested, and about half an hour to clean up afterwards. Sometimes, if subjects get tired easily (or have a lot to say), interviews will be divided into several sessions.
Do I need to be there for the interview session?
Not necessarily. Sometimes responses can change when family members are present, and subjects may alter or avoid certain stories. We'll leave it up to you to decide what will create the best story-telling opportunity. We’ve done it with and without family members present, and both ways can work just fine.
How do you know what questions to ask?
This is the most important part… we ask you to fill out a questionnaire in advance to give us a head start on the story, and to make sure we don’t overlook any important family lore and stories. But we almost always uncover new information that is a surprise to at least some of the family members!
